The 2005 F.I.T.S. Program (April 14th - 24th, 2005)

Are you a fan of film and movies? Do you like independent film? Would you like your students to meet a filmmaker and have a workshop in school? Do you want to support media arts education in the classroom?

The Festival-in-the-Schools program (FITS) is an innovative opportunity for schools, teachers and students to work with an independent filmmaker, meet and discuss the film shown and its subject matter and ask questions about the film production process and career possibilities in the industry.

Filmmakers who will participate in the 2005 Arizona International Film Festival would like to share their talent with your students. We would like to invite your school to take part in a free workshop and film screening. The FITS overall theme is 'Bridging Cultures', which focuses on cultural differences, different backgrounds and nationalities, such as Latino, Native American and African American. These filmmakers are underrepresented in the mainstream media and their stories are encouraging and inspirational. Tucson filmmakers are also available for presentations.

When: Filmmakers are available from April 14th to April 24th inclusive, except weekends.

Length of visit: Workshops typically last one class period, but can be tailored to the specific needs of the school.

Size of group: Can be one class, or more than one combined into a larger group. This program has a limited number of filmmakers available and workshops will be reserved on a first come first served basis.

If you are as excited as we are about this invitation, please visit the website at www.azmac.org for details about the festival and for additional information about FITS.

Please contact the FITS Coordinators for details or to book a workshop by email on FITS@azmac.org

The FITS program and our filmmakers look forward to working with you to further media arts education in schools.

Yours sincerely,

-- the FITS Coordinators
