Reel Inspiring Film Screening
There will be a Reel Inspiring Film Screening 7:30 p.m., Friday October 21 at the Screening Room. The screening is in conjuction with the Reel Vision Filmmakers' Conference, October 21-23, at the Radisson City Center Tucson.

The Reel Vision Filmmakers' Conference Opening Night Screening and Filmmakers Discussion starts Friday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Screening Room, 127 E. Congress Street. Tickets can be purchased at the box office: $6 for RV conference attendees and students, $10 for the general public.

The festivities will kick off with a screening of the Reel Inspiration film contest finalists. Then ROBBING PETER director Mario de la Vega and producer Patrick Roddy and will discuss, "How to Get the Most of Your Low Budget" at 7:30 p.m. The discussion will be followed by a screening of ROBBING PETER at 8:30 p.m. and a Q/A with the filmmakers. Robbing Peter has played at festivals around the world and won the Sol of Excellence award at the CineSol Film Festival, the Jury prize for Best Feature at the Nosotros Film Festival, Best First Feature at the Durango Film Festival and four 2005 IFP/Independent Spirit Award nominations, including the John Cassavetes Award (for best feature under $500,000) and Best First Screenplay.

Writer/Director Mario de la Vega was born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, and moved to Boulder, Colorado, at age five. After graduating with a degree in International Business, de la Vega went back to Mexico to run an export business. He became more interested in documenting stories of Mexico's people than in exporting. De la Vega moved to Los Angeles where he was accepted into the IFP/Los Angeles mentoring program Project: Involve. Robbing Peter was chosen to participate in the highly selective IFP/LA Director's Lab under the instruction of award winning filmmaker Rodrigo Garcia,(Things You Can Tell Just By Looking at Her, Nine Lives). Mario de la Vega was named as one of 25 Faces to Watch in Independent Film in the 2004 Filmmaker magazine.


Robbing Peter producer Patrick Roddy received his MFA in film and Television Producing from UCLA and his B.A. in Media and Theatre Arts from Montana State University. He has been a filmmaker for fifteen years. In addition to ROBBING PETER, he produced the independent feature ANGRY YOUNG MAN winner of Best Feature at the 2003 Arizona International Film Festival. He is currently working on his latest feature MERCY.
