THE SCREENING ROOM REFLECTS ON 9/11

In memory of 9/11, The Screening Room will screen LUSTRE, a film of renewal in uncertain times, on September 11. LUSTRE received the Best Feature Award at the 2004 Arizona International Film Festival.

Filmed on the streets of New York City over the 12 months following 9/11, filmmaker Art Jones brought together local actors and filmmakers intent on creating something life-affirming in the face of loss and uncertainty.

A loan shark, played by Victor Argo, is having trouble distinguishing what's real and what's illusion. By day, strange visions interrupt his rounds. By night, voices visit from a dark past. Could he be the spiritual key to post 9/11 renewal?

Filmmaker Jones has crafted a moving valentine to the city of New York. Always wearing its heart on its sleeve, the cityscape is conveyed through the admiring eye of a man in love with the town.

LUSTRE will screen on Saturday, September 11 at 8:00PM; admission is $5.00.

In conjunction with the Tucson Suffragettes project, The Screening Room will host a free screening of the award-winning documentary, POST NO BILLS, on Saturday, September 11 at 5:00PM. This film focuses on the work of poster artist Robbie Conal, who will be present for the screening.
